Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Jane Austen Limited Edition Ballpoint Pen

Few authors in literary history have been able to create a story and bring characters to life with such elegance, irony and sophistication as British author Jane Austen. Montblanc has created the Jane Austen Tribute Writers Edition to celebrate one of the most famous authors in English literature. This edition captures the Regency era, when aristocratic country estates were the setting for grand parties held to foster social relationships and forge marriages. The elegant sandstone-grey resin body is adorned with fluted detailing, along with Jane Austen’s signature. The contrasting grey-blue cap refers to the type of Regency coat with a double collar typically worn by gentlemen like Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. Gold-plated barrel rings and platinum-plated fittings complete the design. The engraving of the Roman numerals XLIII on the cap ring is a reference to the chapter in the novel in which Elizabeth Bennet first sees Mr Darcy’s estate. The title page of her novel Sense and Sensibility, published in 1811, simply declared that the work was written by “A Lady.” This statement of authorship adorns the top of the cap of the limited edition Writers Edition Tribute to Jane Austen, along with the Montblanc emblem. The silhouette of the writing instrument itself resembles a wax seal. The clip is as unusual as the cap. In the shape of a braided cord with a drawstring, it resembles a fishnet, a type of bag that women used around 1800 to carry powder, a mirror, and the indispensable handkerchief.
