With Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Vincent van Gogh 4810 Limited Edition, Montblanc celebrates Vincent van Gogh, one of the most popular painters of the late 19th century. This edition highlights his stay in Arles with design details reflecting the Provençal wheat fields and one of his most famous paintings, “Sunflowers”. The year 1888 engraved on the barrel ring – alongside Vincent’s signature in bright orange – commemorates the year he moved to Arles. While the barrel is decorated with shades of yellow and orange reflecting the sun-drenched landscape of southern France, the famous series of five sunflower paintings inspired the interpretation stamped on the handmade nib made of solid Au 750 gold, coated with rhodium. Van Gogh developed a looser, freer style and became equally skilled with both brush and palette knife – which he used for his rough, impulsive “impasto” works. His palette knife inspired the platinum-finished clip, while his extensive brushwork is immortalized in the yellow lacquer on the top of the cap. In addition, his passion for pipe smoking, which he referenced in many of his self-portraits, is captured in the delicate detail of the buckle: the top is shaped like a pipe bowl and is filled with yellow precious resin. In homage to Vincent’s fascination with traditional Japanese woodblock prints, the overall shape is inspired by a Japanese cutting knife, while the cap is made of wood. Montblanc emblem, made of yellow precious resin, crowns the edition.

The production of this collection was limited to 4810 fountain pens.
