The ability to display a second time zone in addition to your current time, also known as a GMT function, has become one of the most popular additional functions of mechanical wristwatches in recent years. It was therefore a logical move for us to equip its successful Ternos Professional series with this sought-after function.
The Ternos Professional from DAVOSA is a true professional, equipped to accompany every diver effortlessly into the depths, transforming itself into a real eye-catcher after punctually resurfacing.
In the GMT version, a 24-hour display, the distinguishing feature of the second time zone, is displayed prominently on a rotatable diving bezel, giving the Ternos its characteristic sporty yet functional appearance. The coloured bezel inlay is made of high-tech ceramic and is extremely scratch-resistant with a hardness (according to Vickers) of 1250 HV. It is also heat and corrosion-resistant, and proffers a fine feel thanks to a high-gloss polish. The production of these ceramic bezels is very elaborate; a great deal of expertise is required to produce the different colours in a consistent quality and colour brilliance. Until now, DAVOSA has offered the Ternos Professional GMT in a monochrome black version and in combination with a brilliant blue, but fans of the brand requested additional options. After more than 12 months of development, DAVOSA has now succeeded in producing a deep red, high-tech ceramic that contrasts superbly with black or dark blue, and yet forms a lasting unit with the dark nuances. The scale of the 24-hour display, which consists of a triangle, Arabic numerals and dots, is then engraved into the bezel by a high-precision laser before being filled with the contrasting colour. This creates two new variants of the Ternos Professional GMT TT in red-blue and red-black. At DAVOSA, the appendix TT stands for ‘two-tone’.
